At 11:45 a.m. CJSHS was given the all clear by the local fire department. The alarms are no longer going off and students have returned to class as normal. As an added precaution for the time being, we will continue to keep the music area of the building contained. Thank you.
Shortly after 11:00 a.m., on Monday, September 18, 2023 the fire alarm went off at Central Jr/Sr High School. Students and staff immediately evacuated the building and the fire department was dispatched. During repairs on the roof to the heating and air unit over the music room, nitrogen filtered into the room. This area of the building is self contained and the remainder of the building was determined to be safe. Students are currently at lunch and there is no immediate danger to students and staff remaining in the building or in the outside courtyard although the fire alarm continues to go off. We are working with the local fire department to continue to air out that area of the building in the weight room and music room and to get the fire alarm shut off. Please call 620-438-2215 if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you.
